Album Review; Enter Shikari – ‘A Flash Flood Of Colour’

Enter Shikari
A Flash Flood of Colour

Enter Shikari are one of Britain’s most established acts of this century so far. They are at that point in their career that all bands struggle with, not the tricky second album but the trickier third album.

Their first album “Take to the Skies” was no holds barred, their second album “Common Dreads” was no holds barred, and guess what? “A Flash Flood of Colour” is no holds barred too. Songs with more pieces than a jigsaw puzzle of baked beans and politically charged lyrics with the standard Shikari tongue in cheek.

Before listening to the album in its entirety I had the chance to listen to ‘Ssssnakepi’ and ‘Ghandi Mate Ghandi’ which both stood up to what I expect of Enter Shikari, but after listening to “A Flash Flood of Colour” the entire album surpasses what I expected of Enter Shikari.

The album consists fully of amazing riffs and breakdowns along with classic dub loops and up beat rhythms. Once again Enter Shikari have pulled it out of the bag. Although it’s only January this could be one of the best albums of 2012 if other bands don’t step up their game.

Set for release on January 16th I suggest you get your copy before they sell out. Tracks such as “Arguing With Thermometers” show that Enter Shikari have plenty of tricks up their sleeves for songs and after recently chatting to Rou (Enter Shikari vocalist) I know they already have a handful of tracks in the pipeline for their fourth album.

All in all, a solid album that will stand out from the crowd. 9/10
