The Xenomorphs have taken over in the newest poster for director Ridley Scott’s next entry in his Alien franchise, Alien: Covenant.
“The path to paradise begins in hell,” the description for the image released on Twitter Thursday reads as a group of Xenomorphs are seen engulfing helpless victims into darkness.
The poster calls back to classical depictions of hell as the Xenomorphs’ victims try desperately to reach for the one ray of light that is seen shining into their pit of despair.
Alien: Covenant starring Michael Fassbender, Katherine Waterston, Danny McBride, Noomi Rapace, Billy Crudup, Guy Pearce and James Franco is set to arrive in theaters May 19.
“The crew of the colony ship Covenant, bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world,” reads the synopsis. “When they uncover a threat beyond their imagination, they must attempt a harrowing escape.”
