"Allison Iraheta has moved beyond reality TV, forming a group that Duran Duran bassist John Taylor called ‘the best live band in the U.S.A.’ Think: dark, anthemic rock with a knack for soaring hooks."–Robert Spuhler, Los Angeles Magazine
“"It’s difficult to ignore a band like Halo Circus. I would say they are going to blow up very soon, why shouldn’t they?!" –Alison Caymus, Rock NYC Live and Recorded
“Incomparable…transformative…embraced the future of rock music.”–RJ Frometa, Vents Magazine
“Hardhitting and infectious rock and pop melodies, very diverse songs with bilingual [English and Spanish] lyrics…all transformed by Allison Iraheta’s powerhouse vocals…”—Rock NYC
Los Angeles, CA June 6, 2016–Refreshing, arresting and completely original, Allison Iraheta + Halo Circus have boldly gone their own way since forming in 2012. This June 24, after an EP, a successful solo record Iraheta and several years of honing their craft at live shows across Southern California, Allison Iraheta + Halo Circus will release their very first full-length album, Bunny, on June 24. The LA-based quartet have created a bilingual, hard-hitting album of 13 original songs delivered with verve, passion and utter precision—so much so they recorded the album twice. Fans can pre-order the album and much more on www.halocircus.com starting NOW.
Allison Iraheta and Halo Circus was co-founded by former American Idol star Iraheta and multi-platinum producer, producer and bassist Matthew Hager (Duran Duran, Scott Weiland), and joined on drums by accomplished Cantonese and orchestral drummer Veronica Bellino, who’s previously worked with Jeff Beck and DMC of Run DMC; and on guitar by Brian Stead, an intense, thoughtful guitarist with his own unique voice. Bunny was produced by Hager, mixed by multiple Grammy Award-winner Craig Bauer (Kanye West, Rihanna, Smashing Pumpkins); and mastered by Grammy-winning vinyl mastering engineer Eric Boulanger (One Republic, Imagine Dragons).
This recording wasn’t their first time around; they’d actually made a first foray at recording Bunny in 2015. Iraheta explains, “We decided to rerecord what we’d recorded a year before. We wanted to capture the evolution of our live sound. We wanted Halo Circus to have the opportunity to record an album with the same quality and attention to detail that was given to bands in the 90’s.”
Halo Circus’ quest for perfection has already paid off. The first single from the album, "Desire (Lo Que Vale La Pena)," was downloaded 647,000 times in its first week of release in a promotion with BitTorrent Bundle this past March. The Desire Music Video has been featured on some 54 web sites from Havoc TV to Exposed Vocals.
Musically, Bunny represents a return to—or better, a portent of—an era when albums were events and meant to be heard from start to finish, “preferably with your eyes closed,” adds Hager. Defying easy genre classification, the suite of songs promises to appeal to a wide audience—from young punks to hard rock fans to mature listeners who feel a kindred spirit to the concept albums and rock and roll they grew up on.
Mr. Bunny Faux Curio Video
Handcrafted and expansive goes a long way toward describing the artful presentation that surrounds Bunny. The album is available on an eco-friendly CD that includes a beautiful 8 page lyric booklet with artwork by Patty Palazzo of Punk Masters and photography by famed artist and video director Nick Egan.
The band also offers the album as a stylish and convenient new Bunny "Faux Curio" Keychain. That version, with the highest fidelity recordings available, includes an exclusive bonus song, the music video "Desire" and digital lyric and artwork booklet. But unlike any other record album, "Faux Curio" owners are entitled to exclusive future free content chosen for them alone. The band also produced an amazing micro-short film/commercial “Take Back Your Music Collection” to promote it here .
All physical album formats come with a free MP3 download of the record. Halo Circus’ site also offers fans other goodies including signed CD’s, handwritten lyric sheets, t-shirts, and, for superfans, dinner with frontwoman Allison Iraheta herself.
In March, Halo Circus made history by crowdfunding the largest US tour ever, and will be playing 30 US cities this summer and fall. On release day, June 24, the band will live-stream their album release event and live performance at Sphere Studios in North Hollywood .
Iraheta concludes, “Our aim was high: play as much as possible, and try to develop a reputation as a great live band before releasing an album. Somehow along the way, we learned how to play these songs to an audience and the band actually started to take on a life of its own.” Now, with the album release, launch event and tour, Halo Circus will bring their fans a trove of new material to satisfy their musical cravings.
