London duo Alpines set off on their first extensive headline tour in the UK and Europe and reveal special live session of album track ‘Motionless’.
The performance was filmed at Metropolis Studios and captures the song in a highly intimate setting. Conveying the vulnerability of its studio counterpart, its post-xx minimalism and soulful R&B vocals are given new life. It’s a testament to their unique chemistry and firm artistic direction, and proof that their live show is every bit as slick and as flawless as their recordings.
In their latest sophomore LP Another River Alpines capture a breathlessly elegant and honest single vision. Their exemplary journey, which has seen the pair overcome some pretty tricky hurdles over the past few years (detailed in their chat with Noisey late last year), illustrates to young artists everywhere just what can be accomplished with an abundance of hard work, belief, and an uncompromising attitude. Their first ever extensive headline tour sees them heading up and down the nation before crossing the channel to play in Paris, Amsterdam and Berlin among others.
Playing these cities for the first time gives the pair the chance to meet their continental fanbase, some of whom have supported since the early days. “This is the first time we have toured across Europe so it is going to be an important step for us and one we are very excited about,” the duo explain.
“We have not been so concerned with making the live show sound exactly like the album, so people can expect something a bit different from the live experience. It should hopefully have a lot of energy and an element of unpredictability.”
