Radio 1 DJ and broadcaster Annie Mac has announced a brand new date to the AMP Collected series at The ICA, London. The third show takes place on Thursday 7th April and will host three very exciting upcoming artists, Jordan Rakei, Kojey Radical and Louis Mattrs.
Over the past year the set of live events has showcased the eclectic side of Annie’s musical taste and championed the freshest, new artists. AMP Collected is not an Annie Mac DJ gig, as she will not perform herself. Annie Mac’s dominant voice has become permanently intertwined with the UK music scene because of her not pandering to rules or playing to expectations. Her self-fulfilled prophecy as an unrivalled and unique British tastemaker, fully transitioned in 2015 from the niche world of dance to the genre-defying forefront of all new music. Mac follows in the footsteps of Zane Lowe and John Peel, and has become the first woman to inherit the most influential R1 slot (Monday-Thursday evenings).
The new date of the AMP Collected series kicks off with Brisbane-based artist, Jordan Rakei. A raw and rare talent, Rakei has been making waves internationally with his inventive and refreshing blend of soulful tones, turning everything he touches – from hip-hop to dub, deep house to reggae – to gold. After releasing a string of successful EP’s, Jordan has recently shared his new track ‘The Light’ and is working on a new album for 2016.
London based poet, musician and mixed media visual artist Kojey Radical also joins the bill. After releasing his debut EP in June 2014 Kojey quickly became a name to look out for, selling out his first headline show twice due to popular demand. He is widely credited for his explosive live shows and subversive story telling ability and often referred to as a visionary and pioneer of the arts. Making the BBC Radio 1Xtra Hot for 2016 list, he was the only poet and unsigned artist to be included.
Singer-songwriter and record producer Louis Mattrs will be performing alongside Jordan Rakei and Kojey Radical. Breaking onto the scene in 2013 with a feature on Chase & Status’ 2013 smash ‘Lost & Not Found’, it was 2015 that was a noteworthy year for the young artist. Together with his stunning feature on SG Lewis’ ‘No Less’, he also released his incredible 5 track EP titled: ‘Slow Waves’. Having been championed as one of the most soulful voices to come out of the UK, he is a firm one-to-watch for 2016.
The exciting live platform, AMP Collected will take place in April at London’s legendary establishment of The Institute of Contemporary Arts.
