“Animal” encapsulates the quintessential animalistic nature within
all of us– real, raw, and no holds barred.” – Ones To Watch
Charlotte-based alt-rock duo, Bassh, are shaping up for a big start to 2017, as they announce their first tour dates of the year. The band will kickoff the year playing in their dual home bases of Nashville and Charlotte in late January, with a date at The Cat’s Cradle in Carrboro, North Carolina in between. They will also be hitting The Hollow in Albany, New York on March 4th, and perhaps the biggest announcement, Bassh will be performing at the Hangout Music Festival in Gulf Shores, Alabama this May. Full tour dates and ticket information can be found below!
In celebration of this announcement, the band have also released a new lyric video created by up-and-coming artist, Ethan Guetta, for their latest single “Animal”. The second single from Bassh’s highly anticipated debut EP (out next year on Antler Records), “Animal” premiered this past October on Live Nation’s OnesToWatch.com. Since then it has been picked up across the sphere of radio and blog tastemakers, including Paste Magazine, Alternative Press & Impose Magazine, the legendary KNDD “The End” in Seattle, WEND in Charlotte, Lightning 100 in Nashville and the world famous KROQ in Los Angeles.
“Animal” introduces a more aggressive and brooding side of Bassh. The record gets right to the point, opening with pounding drums and a Depeche Mode style guitar hook. Once again, the two share vocal duties, Brown belts “nothing is forever gonna waste it” and Hardee follows with a rap culminating in yet another mercurial and distinctive track. It was co-written and produced by Lincoln Parish, best known for his work as the former guitarist of Cage The Elephant and as one of the most buzzed about up-and-coming Nashville producers. You can stream “Animal” now on Soundcloud or Spotify and the track is available for download here.
In case you’re unfamiliar with Bassh, they are a group with no rules. No limits. No agenda beyond making something loud, raw and rooted in distorted guitars, sweeping melodies and the thrill that comes with creating art for the sheer fun of it. The band started in the winter of 2014 and consists of Jimmy Brown and CJ Hardee of Matrimony. At the time the duo teamed up with Grammy-nominee and Band of Horses member, Bill Reynolds on their first single, “Body” which has put Bassh firmly on the radar garnering press from NPR and Impose Magazine and amassing over 325,000 streams on Spotify.
