Black Honey that much hyped, most mysterious of bands have embarked upon a tour which means the great unwashed can finally gaze lovingly at the four people responsible for the best EP to drop in 2014.
I took a drive down to Sheffield’s compact and bijou venue The Rockingchair to witness first hand just how good this Brighton act really are.
A quick chat with the future heartthrobs (every single one of them is sickeningly pretty) revealed how excited they were to be gaining recognition for their work and to take the songs on the road – if you miss this brief tour you can catch them at various festivals this summer.
First song in starts slowly, I think it’s just Izzy’s vocal unaccompanied but the song rips into life blowing my mind apart and quite possibly the venues roof off so excuse any inaccuracies in my reporting. Surf style guitars flood our senses and were won over instantly, on any sane planet that track would be on a Tarantino movie soundtrack and climbing rapidly up the charts.
’Ghost’ is another new song that thrills us, proving that Black Honey will be around for the long haul. Of the tracks we know ‘Sleep Forever’ is as heartbreakingly lovely as the recorded version, ‘Teenager’ shimmers brightly while ‘Bloodlust’ should be a dance floor filler tonight with it’s swooping chorus except A) we are rammed into the venue with just enough personal space to applaud and B) I think everyone in the room is utterly awestruck.
Beg, steal or borrow a ticket for their upcoming shows, you can thank me later. 9/10~
