UNVEIL CRAIG ROBERTS DIRECTED VIDEO FOR ‘MY BARK IS YOUR BITE’
SOLD OUT HEADLINE SHOW AT LONDON’S SCALA
DEBUT NYC DATES – NOVEMBER 1st & 2nd
One of 2016’s breakthrough acts, Blaenavon’s ascent has continued with the release of their biggest single to date ‘My Bark Is Your Bite’. Currently receiving daily airplay at BBC Radio 1 – with champions in Huw Stephens and Annie Mac – the cut is also their first released on new North American home Canvasback / Atlantic (Alt-J, The Orwells, Frightened Rabbit).
Today, the band share the music video for the song – directed by actor Craig Roberts (Submarine, Skins, Kill Your Friends). A darkly humorous accompaniment, it was filmed in one shot at an abandoned building in Cardiff.
Discussing the video, the director offered the following;
We’d been talking about collaborating with each other for a while and I’m pleased we managed to make it work as I love Blaenavon’s music. There were two ways of going with this video, whilst the song is so vibrant I also found it very dark – this felt like a great opportunity to do something really cool, and weird. I’d filmed in one-shot before and feel it adds real cinematic quality, it’s nice tying together narrative and performance in one continuous move. The boys came over to Cardiff to shoot the video which was important to me – and not least because it’s close to my house and I could play X-Box straight after.
‘My Bark Is Your Bite’ follows the success of previous AA single ‘I Will Be The World’ / ‘Let’s Pray’, a statement of intent release that included the first cuts from their Jim Abbiss (Arctic Monkeys, Bombay Bicycle Club, Adele) produced debut record and saw the band perform euphoric, tent-filling sets at Glastonbury, Reading & Leeds, and Latitude whilst the likes of Annie Mac, Huw Stephens, Zane Lowe, NME, Fader and more continue to champion their prodigious sound.
The band have also now completed a mammoth 35-date tour around the UK, which included shows with Mystery Jets, The Hunna, The Big Moon and more, as well as their own SOLD OUT headline show at London’s Scala. Next up, they’ll head to the US for their debut shows in New York City, with support coming from Hazel English and Pretty Sick.
