Fresh off the success of his debut single ‘Addicted’, described by Clash Magazine as “A wholly addictive pop-house banger”. Blakey, a new London based singer, songwriter and producer follows it up with a brand new track ‘Prism of Love’ released via his co-owned label ‘Holiday Pay Records’ – a label and collective, formed as a hub for forward thinking artists and producers pushing the limits of what is possible for their unique brand of pop and dance music.
‘Prism of Love’ showcases the expansive breath of Blakey’s craft, drawing on influences from soul, house and alternative RnB, it’s a personal and poignant statement. “You can say a lot about a song, whether its good or bad, or whatever – But you can’t argue with someone being really honest and authentic about how they feel,” explains Blakey. He goes on to add, “I think it’s rock and roll to just say something how it is. Even if some people think its naff – fuck em. It’s honest.”
Blakey earned stripes fronting Waylayers, whose achievements ranged from a lauded SXSW showcase (voted one of the top 5 moments of the festival by Fuse TV), regular support on BBC Radio 1 from tastemakers such as Huw Stephens and a string of critically acclaimed singles, all of which featured on iTunes ‘What’s Hot’ selections, one going straight to Number 1 on the US Electronic chart, one selected as a Tidal Rising Exclusive and countless ‘Track of The Day’ features from Q Magazine, Line Of Best Fit, Clash, Nylon, Hunger Magazine and many others. Blakey is not holding back and plans to go even further with his series of solo releases.
