BBC RADIO TIMES – This week !! REUTERS TV Interview/ video clip – This week !!
On August 26th Blast Unit Moscow, the voice of modern Russia, announce their arrival with ‘Rollercoaster Ride’.
This week Blast Unit Moscow unveil the frenetic and caustic new video for ‘Rollercoaster Ride” – a powerful collage of modern Russia. Watch now and hold on.
‘Rollercoaster Ride’ with its spiky New Wave riff and anthemic choruses, address’ the changes sweeping Russia today. ‘It’s my protest about this corporate life that we are living now. It’s getting harder to survive all over the world. Hard and crazy times.’ explains enigmatic leader Nash Tavkhelidze.
Blast Unit Moscow play rock’n’roll as it was defined by the Beatles and the Stones, and redefined by the Clash and the Ramones. They sing in English, not Russian.
They don’t sound anything like t.A.T.u.
‘Rollercoaster Ride’ is the first taste of their new album ‘Krizis Of Genre’, based around the buzzsaw riffs of Nash (guitar, vocals). Blast Unit Moscow’s fire and passion caught the attention of internationally acclaimed Uber producer ‘Youth’ who collaborated on the new songs and laid down their eclectic and controversial manifesto .
The songs energy dynamite their way into your consciousness and refuse to be ignored and have led Youth to exclaim them ‘as a breath of fresh air in an otherwise stale and stagnant rock scene’.
In their native Russia Blast Unit Moscow have played with Blur, Franz Ferdinand and the Kaiser Chiefs and perform regularly at their club Krizis Zhanra in Moscow.
They host Blastfest, an annual festival that brings top UK bands to Moscow, so far including Bloc Party, S.C.U.M., Suede and Milk.
Yet Blast Unit Moscow continues to look westward for success and ‘Rollercoaster Ride’ marks the start.
The artwork for ‘Rollercaster Ride’ below was completed by legendary graphic artist Mike Coles & the album was produced by Youth !!
