RELEASES NEW VIDEO FOR ‘DANCE WITH ME’
ANNOUNCES SXSW DATES
NEW ALBUM RIPE DREAMS, PIPE DREAMS – OUT NOW
Singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Cameron Avery stretches the minimal rock aesthetic to its limits on his brand new song ‘Dance With Me’. The sparse track from the long-time drummer of Pond and touring bassist for Tame Impala grounds itself in Avery’s hypnotically deep vocal and a commanding simple drumbeat, but reveals its vulnerability with subtle strings that provide the song with a welcome layer of light. ‘Dance With Me’ is the third single to be lifted from Avery’s upcoming debut album Ripe Dreams, Pipe Dreams, out 10 March via Anti.
Avery says of the video, which features long-time friend Alexa Chung, “There are two dreamscapes. The car wreck is kind of a metaphoric reality, where someone comes out of nowhere into your life and you’re incapable of avoiding them. The dancing scene is a dreamscape depicting the act of throwing all of yourself in their way in the hope they might open their eyes and see you. And then you play it over in your head and realise it probably couldn’t work anyway.”
This March, the Perth-born New York-based musician will get to tour his own project across the US for the very first time, where he’ll use his dynamic baritone and soaring soul-pop melodies to propel his audiences through the dreamscapes he’ll create with his band. He’ll also be making an appearance at this year’s SXSW in Austin.
