Comprised of producers Robbie Slade and Peter Ricq, the duo’s sound has been called infectious, smartly crafted, and a force live. Produced by Nik Kozub (Shout Out Out Out Out), Noontide is a showcase of their innovative mix of heavy electronics with modern pop sensibilities. The album is carefully constructed, building upon the band’s restless aesthetic experimentation. In support of the record, the two-piece is bringing their kinetic live-show to stages across North America. See the full list of tour dates below.
The title track of their first release Avec Mes Mecs made its way onto NME and claimed the #5 spot on Hype Machine. Their 2012 EP Traps garnered even more acclaim topping the Canadian Electronic Charts for six weeks and receiving attention from publications such as Exclaim!, XLR8R, Resident Advisor, and CBC Music. Aside from impressing music critics, HUMANS have been heavily featured on placements for HBO’s Entourage, CSI, and MTV.
Noontide will be released by Hybridity Music, one of Canada’s leading independent electronic labels and at the forefront of new music and new media. With a diverse roster of producers ranging from HUMANS, Ladyfrnd, Sabota, and Thomas Cade to the alternative R&B of Michael Brock, the label is a proud champion of the sweeping digital age. As a testament to their cutting edge sensibilities, Hybridity also creates unique tools for artists and musicians, including their innovative mobile photo app Generate, as well as interactive installations and curatorial projects.
Staying true to their art form has always been a first priority for HUMANS. Ricq is also a well-known illustrative visual artist whose exhibited all over the world, most recently at AMP (Tokyo, Japan), Come Together (Bogota, Colombia), Ayden Galllery (Vancouver) and more. Ricq’s art plays a large role in HUMANS, where the duo creates many of their own music videos.
Situated in the East end of Vancouver, Robbie Slade and Peter Ricq have been crafting music together since 2010. By blending each of their specific musical influences, HUMANS create indie-electronic music that also possesses a distinct darkness to it. Focusing on the performance ideals of modern greats like LCD Soundsystem or Jamie XX, HUMANS are able to impress audiophiles with their technical skills while still stirring up action on the dancefloor.
