With her second album, ‘CYRK’, hitting the shelves on 30 April, Cate    Le Bon is set to release Puts Me To Work as a pre-album single.    “It’s a piano jam!,” says Le Bon of the track, recorded with    producer Krissie Jenkins in Cardiff. “It was recorded in a couple of    hours – the band hadn’t heard it before and we muddled our way    through, which is why it has a ramshackle lilt. The piano was also    one semi-tone out of tune; it still is as far as I know.”

Set for release on Gruff Rhys’s Ovni (Turnstile) imprint, CYRK is a    35-minute blast of colour, ever-changing as it whizzes from the    garage pop opener Falcon Eyed to the closing number Ploughing Out, a    track so epic it demanded to be split into two parts. “CYRK is like    a time travel travelogue which continually returns the sea,” says Le    Bon, who took the album’s title from the Polish word for Circus and    took inspiration from a trip to the Isle Of Eigg. “I mostly write    about the sea, matters of the heart and animals – or a mish-mash of    all three.”
