New LP Future Former Self Out This Spring
Performing Live on KCRW’s Morning Becomes Eclectic, 3/19
Brooklyn band CHAPPO will release their sophomore LP, Future Former Self, this spring, as a follow-up to 2012’s critically-acclaimed Moonwater. The band has already shared a taste of the psychedelic, otherworldly album with single “I Don’t Need The Sun,” and today, they release the incredibly catchy “I’m Not Ready” via MTV. The track is also available to stream below.
CHAPPO first garnered attention for their unique, psychedelia-infused brand of rock when their hit single “Come Home” was featured in an iPod Commercial. Since then, the band has toured with acts like Of Montreal & Imagine Dragons, graced the stages of Bonnaroo & Osheaga, and built up a loyal fan base with their high-energy live show. Aiming to create a full-on sensory experience for their audiences, CHAPPO’s live performance includes costumes, confetti, and– on their current tour– an LED moon. They’re currently on the road with Royal Teeth and will be stopping in Austin for SXSW. The following Wednesday, they perform live on KCRW’s Morning Becomes Eclectic.
Future Former Self follows the fictional story of Rene Cogito, a man who must leave his beloved wife and journey through space to a black hole to help save mankind. Focused around the abstract concept of time and its infinite & fleeting nature, the record explores the idea that at any given moment, the future and the past can cave in on themselves, leaving us with an inexplicable reality where one is confronted with his “future former self.”
