“One to watch next year.” Noisey
“Future soul star.” I-D
“Beautiful.” The Fader
“Answer” is the brand new track from 20-year-old North-West London songstress Connie Constance, who’s featured as Julie Adenuga’s UK Represent on Beats 1 this week.
The new song follows her Blue Daisy-produced “In The Grass” EP and is another shining slice of escapism. Having met just this earlier this year, the pair melded blissed-out urban dreamscapes with Connie’s wide-eyed vocals for a stunning debut. Released on electronic mavens Black Acre, the EP was championed by Pharrell Williams on his Beats 1 show as well as Annie Mac,Huw Stephens, Mister Jam, Julie Adenuga and Giles Peterson.
“Answer” sees the Watford born singer and Blue Daisy team up once again for more magic, as Connie’s swoonsome vocals soar above melodic beats, shimmery guitars and ethereal electronics. Her lyrics are both raw and intimate, with her dramatic voice able to utilize space as an instrument in itself, allowing for a beautiful intensity.

Stating her intentions for the song Connie claimed that it can relate to two different people in the world, “one person that knows all the answers for taking all your troubles away” as well as “a kind of know it all person, like they already know all the answers.”
Currently busy in the studio writing, Connie’s deeply personal songwriting and unique brand of London soul looks set to mark her as one of the most important new voices of 2016.
