Corsair is the self titled debut release from Virginia-borne progressive, metal, rock and roll four piece Corsair. Please don’t be turned off by the term progressive, this is not Dream Theatre fret wanking territory by any means.
Expect old school riffs that reek of bands from the seventies such as Britain’s very only Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin. There is no blatant show boating or over the top attitude in the Corsair camps.
Eight tracks that consist of some that are purely instrumental and other that have vicious vocal hooks ranging through the verses followed by catchy sing a long chorus’ show the band as I diverse yet stand alone band who aren’t afraid to do their own thing. The only bad thing I can say about Corsairs debut is that there aren’t enough bloody tracks. What’s up with that?
If you like your rock/metal and are a fan of timeless guitar playing then I suggest you check this album out which is already set as a big contender for album of the year in 2013. 9/10
