Punk trio COLT 45 release their brand new video for Salt Water today, which pays homage to their Cumbrian heritage with panoramic shots of the coast. Staying true to their blue collar, small town sound, says drummer Adam Lewis of the track,
“Salt Water is about reflection, reaching that point where you just can’t take anymore and need to catalyse a change. The chorus is almost like the tipping point where you lose your cool and just need to vent the built-up frustration. Hopefully it’ll be a good one for our fans to let off some steam to as well!”
Salt Water is taken from last year’s stunning debut The Tide Is Turning (KKKK – Kerrang!, 7/10 Big Cheese, 6/10 Rock Sound), and follows lead track O.K. which received airplay from BBC Radio’s Mike Davies, Huw Stephens, Jen Long, Ally McRae alongside Kerrang!, TeamRock and Amazing Radio. VEVO additionally supported O.K. by inviting the punk trio to showcase the track on their hotly anticipated new talent platform DSCVR.

2014 was one hell of a year for COLT 45. Hot on the tail of their debut performance and biggest show to date at Donington’s hallowed Download Festival, the band released new album The Tide Is Turning through Visible Noise. Providing the ammunition for a jam packed year of shows, including Camden Rocks, Merthyr Rock, Leopallooza, Kendal Calling, Leopalloza,Nightmare Festival alongside support to Three Days Grace and fellow UK punks The Computers, it’s easy to forget that this is just the beginning.
2015 is shaping up to be a worthy competitor with the premiere of Salt Water, March tour – including an appearance at Takedown Festival – with plans to tour Europe later this year.
COLT 45 signed to Visible Noise in the summer of 2013, hours before a surprise headline slot at Cockrock Festival as rapperWiley was booed off stage 15 minutes in to his set. Since then, constant touring, including supports to Blitz Kids, Lower Than Atlantis and Young Guns, set them up nicely to hit the studio in February 2014 with go-to UK rock producer Romesh Dodangoda (Kids In Glass Houses, Funeral For A Friend, Twin Atlantic, Motorhead) to track The Tide Is Turning.
Album title The Tide Is Turning hints at the band’s new positive outlook, explains front man Neil Harper
“The Tide Is Turning is actually a lyric from one of the songs on the album. It just stood out for us as a statement which really sums up how we all feel at the moment. We’re still pissed off, but there’s definitely a lot more light at the end of the tunnel now! We’re more balanced, and the record demonstrates that.”
