Plays EP launch show at The Waiting Room, London (April 26th)
DAUNT ~ Unbearable Light
“Wistful, world-weary indie pop soul from London singer Will Daunt” The Guardian
“Ushering in a new project can be tricky but DAUNT nails the process with ease”The Line of Best Fit
“Sparse yet overwhelming, with tinkling piano notes and hushed backing harmonies pushing DAUNT to the next level.” Clash
‘Unbearable Light’ is the second single from Will Daunt’s forthcoming debut EP of the same name– poised for an April 28th release via London label Beatnik Creative.
Based in London, DAUNT first emerged with his seductive brand of slow-pop when he uploaded ‘This Body Rushes’ to SoundCloud, racking up 400k plays in a matter of days. ‘Unbearable Light’ is the result of the natural progression of his sound, and a vivid stand-out track from the debut EP.
Of writing the track Will says: “it was clear that the song was really visual, taking cues from night-driving and classic Hollywood road movies. In short, our central character is driving away from an undefined event or relationship which has revealed some aspects of himself that he’d rather not have seen, as though an ‘unbearable light’ has been cast on him.”
Influenced by swung hip-hop beats, classic soul rhythms and 70s funk/disco bass lines, as well as the genre- experimentation of artists like Beck or Glass Animals, DAUNT crafts unique pop that feels mature and refined.
