ICONIC INDIE LABEL MARKS 15th ANNIVERSARY
WAVE OF NEW RELEASES + CLASSIC ALBUM RE-ISSUES FROM STARS OF ROSTER INC:
THE VRYLL SOCIETY // HIDDEN CHARMS //
THE LITTLE FLAMES // DEAD 60’s // CANDIE PAYNE //
DELTASONIC, the iconic label that introduced the world to the wonders of THE ZUTONS, THE CORAL, THE RASCALS and many more is commemorating its 15th Anniversary with a feast of special releases to sink your teeth into.
As a nod to this milestone year, the Liverpool-based label has revealed its plans for a series of exciting new releases and classic re-issues from a vibrant back-catalogue that has set the paces across the last two decades.
Bearing the torch for the what already appears to be a bright future for the indie label, two fresh-signings to the roster, Hidden Charms and The Vryll Society, will lead the way in the commemorative release series.
Gearing up to unleash their first pressing with the Deltasonic stamp of approval,Hidden Charms have also scored a fan in legendary producer Shel Talmy (The Who, The Kinks) who has lent his hand to the London four-piece for a double A-side single. On the 24th July, “Dreaming Of Another Girl” will see the band announce themselves to the label roster with this strutting piece of swampy rhythm & blues.
Speaking about the anniversary and the new arrivals to the label, Label Manager for Deltasonic, Ann Heston said:
“Deltasonic has always been like a family and we’re really glad to welcome Hidden Charms into the fold. As part of our 15th year of Deltasonic it’s great to have new young artists emerging.”
New music also comes from Liverpool’s own explorers in sound, The Vryll Society, who will cut their teeth with the mercurial, dripping psychedelia of their debut single: “Deep Blue Skies” released 17th July. Although newcomers at Deltasonic, its testament to the label’s confidence in this precociously talented five-piece that the honour of kick-starting the series is left to them.
As a landmark anniversary in a business that can often be so ephemeral, the label is also returning its thanks to some of the artists that have been at the core of its longevity. Delving into the archives, Deltasonic will be re-issuing a number of classic records that have all helped to define its enviable reputation for impeccable taste and revolutionary records.
Plans to release a lost 2007 album by The Little Flames (a band featuring none-other than Miles Kane and the anthemic “Put Your Dukes Up John”, later covered by Arctic Monkeys) are already in the pipeline. Elsewhere, releases from frenetic indie floor fillers Dead 60s and stately singer songwriter Candie Paynewill see their seminal records reissued with the special edition treatment they deserve. The reissues will be initially digital-only to quickly bring Deltasonic’s currently unavailable catalogue back to fans’ playlists. Details of these and further forthcoming Deltasonic reissues will be announced soon athttp://deltasonicrecords.co.uk and http://www.republicofmusic.com/.
This string of new releases come as the label surges from a new lease of life in partnership with Republic of Music. Speaking about this exciting new arrangement Mark McQuillan, Republic of Music Owner, said:
“The list of artists and releases that make up Deltasonic’s back catalogue speaks for itself. Our partnership with them means that we’ll have the privilege of revisiting that past, perhaps filling the gaps in people’s collections as we go.”
Deltasonic was founded in Liverpool by Alan Wills in 2000. A celebrated figure as label owner and as drummer with local heroes Shack, Wills was an integral part of the city’s vibrant music scene until his untimely death last year. Setting a blueprint for a guitar-band label for the 21st century, Wills’ vision was fully realised as bands including The Coral, The Zutons, The Longcut, The Rascals, The Suzukis and more displayed the indie label’s keen ear for staggering new talent. Carrying on Deltasonic’s prestigious legacy into the future, Wills regarded space rock sorcerers The Vryll Society as his next great discovery.
