Alternative Rock can be of many things, but for anyone shifting uncomfortably at this junction, Dirty Jane are on firm ground citing band inspirations from including The Stooges, The Cramps and 50’s rockabilly rebel Gene Vincent.
The Birmingham band new single was produced by Gavin Monaghan (Editors/The Twang etc) and is out on 7 inch vinyl via the new Magic Garden Vinyl label – plus it’s available digitally from iTunes etc too.
Their is a taste of rockabilly around the edges under clean vocals and big Gretch-like guitar sounds, moreover the songwriting and approach of Dirty Jane is noticeable, it’s early days, but the band may find it easier to keep standards up with more ease than your average dirigible. ‘Boogie Monster’ I am relieved to state, does not live up to its title, instead Dirty Jane have a handy single on the go, enjoyable. 7.8/10
