This new (Italian) project is part fronted by legendary metal singer Fabio Lione, famed for fronting Italian symphonic metal band Rhapsody (Of Fire) and sometimes power metal band Angra. The vocals are shared with a young rising star Giorgia Colleluori. With former members of Hollow Haze there’s some pedigree here too.
With complex arrangements and the keyboards both a symphonic and gothic feel.
The opener ‘Evil Tears’ sees Giorgia’s vocals stand out, strong and fronting some polished power metal, The middle break is interesting, a good crunchy riff, before the keyboards come in again.
‘Another Night Comes’ helps typify the album – strong song writing and vocals that sometimes take solo spots and sometimes duet. The rhythms are solid but the spotlight is on the balance of guitar and keyboards. The production may not be as big as Rhapsody but is certainly as polished.
Stand out song is ‘Is The Answer Far From God’, with some excellent vocals and some more than decent shred to boot.
With a couple of the earlier tracks a little samey, there’s some good variation later on, with most of the tracks in the 4-5 minute range.
There is a studio project feel about it, but it’s a great new metal album with some excellent guitar that is matched by the vocals, keyboards and production. 7.5/10
