Film-goers were surprised to see J.J Abrams new 10 Cloverfield Lane, trailer
During screenings of 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi the audience was treated to a trailer for the upcoming post-apocalyptic thriller, directed by Dan Trachtenberg and starring John Goodman, Mary Elizabeth Winstead and John Gallagher. The trailer gave us a look at the lives of several survivors living in a bunker. The interesting part came when the title was revealed as 10 Cloverfield Lane, making it a follow up to the 2008 film Cloverfield. The real kicker, it’s less than two months away.
Abrams himself released a statement to Collider about the mystery film:
“The idea came up a long time ago during production,” before elaborating: “We wanted to make it a blood relative of Cloverfield. The idea was developed over time. We wanted to hold back the title for as long as possible.”
There was also a poster released for the film.
It sounds like it won’t be a sequel, but more of a spinoff set in the same universe. It’s interesting to see that they have lost the found footage aspect. The trailer didn’t show much, but we can expect to see more when the film is released March 11th.
