The Food Film Festival presents Hometown Heroes: Chopped Cheese & More, featuring Hajji’s original chopped cheese, a selection of local New York delicacies and more!
Right off the 6 train in Harlem is none other than Blue Sky Deli, also known as Hajji’s!
Hajji’s is a local staple and the birthplace of the famous Chopped Cheese sandwich. Many delis in New York boast a similar creation, but this local spot is where it all started. Chef Hamsa Naji will be on site at the Food Film Festival, grilling up his signature sandwich.
1 Minute Meal is an award winning documentary series that uses food to reveal the communities, legacies, dreams, realities, and unseen forces that shape life in New York City. One-man film crew James Boo is credited as Producer, Director, Cinematographer, Editor, and sometimes Composer of this fantastic series. As part of our Hometown Heroes event on Friday, we will be showing a 5-film block of back-to-back 1 Minute Mealfilms, showcasing food from each of the 5 boroughs. Don’t miss this exciting expedition into the daily lives of our hometown foodies.
The Food Film Festival, which the New York Times says is “Dinner and a Movie elevated to an art form”, makes a much-anticipated return to New York City October 19-22 for its 11th consecutive year!

All events take place at the AMC Empire 25 in Times Square at 42nd Street + 8th Avenue.
