Following last year’s release of the band’s third album ‘Decency’, featuring their most successful singles yet in ‘Money’ and ‘Think Yourself Lucky’, Frankie & The Heartstrings have announced a special double A-side single featuring two Northern Soul classics.
Available digitally and as a limited edition 7” record scheduled for 16th April 2016, the release is comprised of their versions of ‘The Night’ and ‘Do I Love You (Indeed I Do)’ were originally performed by Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons and Frank Wilson respectively.
The first of those two tracks, ‘The Night’ can be heard below
Speaking about the track, guitarist and vocalist Ross Millard says:
“’The Night’ is a great, enigmatic Northern Soul classic with an excellent bassline and the song fits (F&THs lead vocalist) Frankie’s vocal range really well. We’d discussed recording a few covers for a while and I thought ‘The Night’ would sit with the music we’d recorded for the last album ‘Decency’ really nicely, but also allow us to get the Vegas show-suits back on for some more soulful razzle dazzle.”
Second track ‘Do I Love You (Indeed I Do)’ is one particularly close to Frankie Francis’ heart, with him noting “I’ve seen first-hand what effect this track has over people.
I regularly DJ, and there aren’t many tracks you can play and immediately know beforehand that everyone in the room will move to it, but this certainly is one. At the same time though, not many people will know the title of this song or who sang it. And that’s the power songs like ‘Do I Love You’ has, it doesn’t matter what genre you champion, or what usually makes you dance, tracks like this are timeless moments of joy.”
Continues Ross Millard; “The two covers we’ve recorded here are loose, feel-good songs that should remind people of the backbone on which Frankie & The Heartstrings was founded – mystery, romance and a bit of late-night adventure.”
