“Hat Tree,” a beautiful mid-tempo ballad with vivid storytelling over subtle, surfy guitar layers that gradually build to a sneaky, but potent crescendo.” – Stereogum
“A confident return … teeming with imagery and dynamic delivery.” – Impose
“‘Clean Touch’ hit me like a jolt of electricity when I first heard it. This track, along with the B-side ‘Pale Lips,’ challenge the status quo with measured, acerbic precision.” – Brooklyn Magazine

Brooklyn’s Cindy Lou Gooden aka Very Fresh will release her new Hey, It’s Me! EP tomorrow via New Professor Music and Inflated Records. It’s full of fearlessly honest, relatable lyrics, lush instrumentation and sweet vocal melodies with a bare 90’s gleam. Gooden has previously shared the irresistibly catchy indie-punk anthem “Schedule IV”, and lovesick ballad “Hat Tree”. Today, DIY Magazine shares an exclusive stream of the EP along with a Q&A. We encourage you to post & share!
Gooden spent the last year releasing her single “Clean Touch”, recording on Ava Luna’s last album, touring with Kino Kimino (Sonic Youth) and Leapling on bass, and prior to that, forming the all-female Pavement cover band, Babement, with Speedy Ortiz’s Sadie Dupuis. Hey, It’s Me! is a 5 song collection of clever, confessional, melodic indie rock that pays homage to Gooden’s alternative rock predecessors with its muscular drumming and driving guitars, while incorporating inspiration from her contemporary favorites like Courtney Barnett, Pile, and Palehound. The result is Very Fresh at her most dynamic.
