Garage-Psychers Chaika Unleash New Track ‘I Fall’
Released 1st April
Chaika- ‘I Fall’
“A tortured, addictive thrill ride, Chaika’s “I Fall” is not for the faint hearted…The new track develops the grinding, dark, and demanding aesthetic of previous releases “The Mirror” and “The Quietness”.” The Line of Best Fit
Leeds 4-piece Chaika return with their latest harrowing take on garage-psych in new b-side ‘I Fall’. Once again the band are teaming up with producer Matt Peel (Eagulls, Pulled Apart by Horses, Autobahn), rekindling the relationship that resulted in the acclaimed a-side ‘The Quietness’.
The self proclaimed exemplifiers of psych noir anguish are kicking off what’s looking to be a busy year ahead, with a début EP in the writing, as well as exciting live slots on the horizon, for which the band have cultivated an impressive live show. Towards the end of 2015, notable support slots included opening for the likes of Demob Happy, Cheatahs and Girls Names, and continuing in this vein through the start of 2016 has seen them play with INHEAVEN, Actor and Virgin Kids. A slot at Ulltra Festival alongside Kagoule and Weirds is also to come in June, after a show at The Finsbury on 16th April.
In the words of singer Joe Evans: “‘I Fall’ saw us writing about writing. From Philip Larkin to Charles Bukowski, the track charts the necessary enslavement of a writer to the craft; an experience which is one part ecstasy, one part terror. Abetted by the repetitive march of instrumentation, it’s a matter of stoic commitment.”
