Former Supergrass frontman Gaz Coombes returns with ‘Simulator’ the first single to be taken from his debut solo album ‘Here Come The Bombs’

As one would expect from a songwriter who has been active since the 90’s this isn’t exactly a radical departure from his established sound so anyone missing Supergrass will be delighted that he is back.

Simulator is a storming track that fuses quirky 60’s surf guitars to an indie rock chorus. Oddly reminiscent of Edwyn Collins this plants Gaz firmly into Jack White territory, and that can only be a good move.
With such an assured and confident debut solo offering as this, Gaz proves that he is in it for the long haul and has the talent to follow the Jack White career trajectory with multiple spin off projects.

Simulator is a catchy ‘summer’ tune that projects a much needed ray of sunshine into these grey July skies and serves as a great introduction to the album.
It really is great to see Mr Coombes return and on the strength of this I hope this time he is here to stay. 7.5/10
