=HAIR DIE RELEASE 80’S-ALT TINGED SINGLE BACKBURNING AFTER BEATS1 INTERVIEW
Brand new Sydney-based, 80’s-influenced band Hair Die have released their debut single Backburning; an anxious, jarring, jaunt dripping with charisma and catchyness.
You’ll be able to catch Hair Die live as they begin their residency at Sydney’s Oxford Arts Factory monthly from Friday, August 11 and will be touring through September.
It’s a booming beginning for this fledgling alt-band; already swooped up by Apple-owned, powerhouse digital radio Beats1, Hair Die’s future is a sure shot. Check out that interview here.
For a debut release Backburning is complex, diving deep into themes of self-evaluation, destruction and rebirth.
“Backburning is about getting rid of the toxic ideas in your head that you don’t need. It’s about making space for new things to grow. This can be a dangerous process and the conditions need to be just right, like when back burning occurs in the bush or fire prone areas,” said vocalist, Alys Hale.
“It’s about making space for new things to grow. Making sure that you’ve got space in your head to accept new things, and burn off all the things that you don’t need.” said synth player, Cal Callaghan.
Hair Die combine a provocative sensibility with the lean synth punk of their late 70’s and 80’s influences, maintaining a strong focus on the immersive multi-sensory aspect of their output.
This attention to both musical and visual detail really comes through in the music video which uses a provocative scenes and action to convey the message of destruction and resurrection.
