“In the decadent blend of layered vocals, thunderous drums and epic bass swells of “Solvey” …the song careens forward in true anthemic fashion” – Stereogum
Introducing: Solvey. The latest project from NYC’s Jessica Zambri, which has stepped into the world with its debut track of the same name, “Solvey,” on the newly founded label Killer Wail Records. Killer Wail is a New York-based record label founded in 2015 by Zambri and Noel Heroux (Hooray for Earth). Solvey makes its live debut on 2/20 at Baby’s All Right in Brooklyn, supporting Young Ejecta.
Speaking of her first release “Solvey”, Zambri shares, “You know when you fight and fight and fight in circles, you get so overwhelmed, you have to resist any previous roles you’ve owned and resist planning too far ahead.”
Solvey aka Jessica Zambri is known for her collaborations with Hooray for Earth and Autre Ne Veut (her vocals being a staple on both bands’ most recent albums), and most notably her last band, Zambri, the gorgeously weird electronic pop project Jessica helmed with her sister, Cristi Jo. Solvey doesn’t fit neatly into the pegs of any of the places she’s lived or bands she’s played with. As with past efforts, the strength of her voice is the anchor for the songs, which are an amalgam of ethereal harmonies and bass guitar grit. Solvey is many things: a nickname coined by Jessica’s sister Catherine, the band’s name and the album title, in addition to the title of the first single. From nowhere and everywhere, a new word with a new meaning.
