‘Night Becomes Light’ album out via Universal
Sept 2nd 2016
Delorentos, the critically acclaimed Irish four-piece, who have supported artists as diverse as Bruce Springsteen, Two Door Cinema Club and Sinead O’Connor – are set to release their new album ‘Night Becomes Light’ on September 2nd.
‘Night Becomes Light’ is their most personal output to date with deeply emotional tracks such as ‘Dublin Love Song’, which was written as a response to the homeless crisis in Dublin. The infectious ‘Home Again’ is an ode to first time fatherhood, the themes are human and the delivery is never anything but heartfelt. The sheer warmth of the lyrics and the harmonic complexity evoke ‘Suburbs’ era Arcade Fire and fans of The Killers’ first album will also find solace in the candid approach to songwriting on display here.
Renowned for their excellent live shows (both electric and acoustic) and for occasional versions of songs in Gaelic, Delorentos are an established name in their home country and around the world. Previous albums ‘Little Sparks’ and ‘You Can Make Sound’ both won ‘album of the year’ awards in Ireland (with Entertainment IE and The Choice Music Prize, respectively).
“We wrote the album between trips to the US, Russia, and Europe and recorded with Rob Kirwan, in his little loft studio, with its giant grand piano.”said the band of their newest release, “It was a great experience working with Rob, who was also producing Hozier’s debut album at the time. As we were leaving the studio after a week’s recording, he’d be arriving in with his guitar on his back, or vice versa.”
Ever on the lookout for new, innovative ways to engage their followers, they have in recent times done a series of pop-up shops in disused spaces, written their own magazine and are set to publish their own book of “tips” based on their experiences in the music industry. That creativity is mirrored in their writing and recording process too, mixing new styles, apps and modern samples with vintage gear and analogue pedals.
Delorentos may be established in Ireland and the rest of Europe (as well as making inroads this year in Latin America), but being introduced to the UK with ‘Night Becomes Light’ will give the band a chance to reach the audience they’ve always known they were destined for.
