Jeff Hanson ( SMG / JHMP / Creed / Paramore )
I am emailing from Jeff Hanson’s database and I am seeking your assistance. Jeff has been diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer in his lymph nodes and his situation is severe. Jeff is too proud to ask for help so I am asking for him. I am working with Death Valley Dreams, a band we both manage, to create a funding page for him –
Hanson vs. Cancer
This may be the first time you have heard about Jeff’s situation. I was shocked when I heard the news. He told me that recently he felt a lump behind his ear and made an appointment with a doctor. After weeks of waiting for the results, the diagnosis was that a Stage 4 squamous cell carcinoma had metastasized to his lymph node. A “neck dissection” was followed by a surgery removing lymph nodes and a tonsil. The next step is chemo and radiation treatments for the 7 weeks. Jeff is not a smoker. Doctors believe that immune-suppressants and methotrexate injections that he took for Psoriatic Arthritis for years may have compromised his immune system and caused the cancer.
Fortunately, Jeff’s cancer is treatable and he is receiving good care. Unfortunately, the recovery is long and extremely painful…and extremely costly, even with insurance. I am concerned for Jeff, his wife Rebecca and his 5 kids. The expenses are draining his family to the point their savings are gone, bills are stacking up and he could lose his home. He can only talk for short periods of time before his voice disappears, which for Jeff is devastating. He is struggling physically to do simple things without tiring quickly. And the financial strain is mentally draining him.
Over the years, Jeff has helped the careers of many people but more importantly, has given back to his community. You may not know that Jeff was awarded the Orlando Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s “Man of the Year”. You may not be aware that Jeff has spent years volunteering at the YMCA and other organizations as a baseball coach. He has donated an enormous amount of time and money to many charities in Orlando.
Jeff has been my friend since the days of Floyd’s Music Store…before there was a Creed, Paramore or Framing Hanley or the countless other bands that he has worked with. Some of you have known him even longer. I am doing my best to help give Jeff and his family some relief during this difficult time and I hope you can help too.”
