Though John Hickman followed his musical aspirations later in life, he always thought that the “sky was the limit” as far as to how the music could be experienced. Born and raised in Dallas, TX, and attending the University of Texas at Austin for his academic career that led to his day job of Aerospace Engineer. Now fully retired, he and his wife recently made the move to Maui, HI. The guitar, a Christmas present from his wife, was a catalysis that led to Hickman’s progression into music-making.
Hickman’s latest offering, a single, entitled, “Hello Hello,” encompasses this transcending and transformative leeway toward moving toward who you are supposed to be. The music video, a retro vibe piano-driven piece that illustriously sketches illustrations of the characters and highlights certain script from the lyrics in light blue, picks up on a great catchy beat. Filled with an upbeat cadence, the classical rock track is jam-packed with contagious hooks and air-tight harmonies.
A heart-warming representation of the director Liam Morgan’s vision in enlightening audiences with a vibrant, indie-rock inspirational track that is filled to capacity with a melodious feel good retro vibe, Hickman is featured as a cartoon illustration of himself singing along to the track and accompanying on keys. The music video, a story of a man and a woman slowly moving towards each other and enjoying every moment of their day before they do so, is a beacon of light within the music industry. A fun-loving song bursting with good energy and a cheerful and gratifying retro vibe will be sure to be the highlight of your day once you hit that ‘play’ button. 7.7/10
