Reading & Leeds Festival appearance announced
for the BBC Introducing Stage
Flying the flag for fresh new music from the North West, Jordan Allen are over the moon to announce they will perform at the Reading & Leeds Festival 2016, the only act from the Greater Manchester area. This follows their biggest home town headline gig to date with a show at the Ruby Lounge in the city a few days earlier.
Hand-picked for a coveted slot on the BBC Introducing Stage (a stage curated by Radio 1’s own new music mogul: Huw Stephens), the four piece, saw off stiff competition from hopeful acts all over the UK as they bagged themselves a place on the line up of this notorious festival fixture. They will play Reading on Friday 26th August and Leeds the day after.
The band announced via Twitter:
“For FIVE YEARS I have dreamt about writing this post…
We will play at Reading Festival Friday 26th August and Leeds Festival on Saturday 27th on the BBC Introducing Stages!!!!!! BOOO-YAKKKA-SHAAAAA. Come celebrate with us at The Ruby Lounge Manchester Saturday August 20th.THIS IS JUST THE BEGINNING. SPREAD THE LOVE.”
Following rapturously received sets at this year’s Dot To Dot and Great Escape Festivals, plus with sparky new track ‘Too Much Too Soon’ flaunting a slot on Radio X’s X-posure Playlist, word has spread like wildfire about the Bolton/Manchester outfit in 2016.
New single “Too Much Too Soon”, is the latest offering to emerge from a series of prolific sessions recorded in Peter Gabriel’s highly-conducive Real World Studios in late 2015. Inconspicuously nestled in the Wiltshire countryside, this stardom-steeped facility has provided the creative conditions for Jordan Allen to pen over 20 new arrangements. ’Too Much…’, a key stone in this awesome arc of output, was lovingly arrived at by revered production guru Steve Osborne.
An unrequited love song at its core and an exercise in developing a cool and coy demeanour, 21 year old Jordan Allen utilises deft lyrical prowess and wisdom beyond his years to capture the essence of an age old dilemma.
“’Too Much Too Soon’ is about reflecting on the naivety of how easy it is to fall head over heels when you’re young. Being completely unaware of how young I was and how none of it really mattered I did some ridiculous stuff, sent flowers, wrote poems, wrote songs and none of it worked – (Too Much To Soon) if I had my life experience that I have now and played it cool, things might have been different”.
