Karma To Burn will be releasing their new album ‘Karma To Burn – Slight Reprise’ on 3rd September to coincide with the end of their UK tour. The album is a return to their origins back in 1994 and is what the band really wanted to release but were told ‘no lead singer, no contract.’Now we all know that a lead singer isn’t essential to a great album but it’s taken a little while to catch on. So with bands such as Norwegian Caves of Steel and Finnish Apocaliptica gaining in popularity Karma To Burn finally convinced Maybe Records to release their first album as it should have been in all its original glory and about time too!
This is basically an instrumental of their debut album but it’s somehow more than that, a return to what this band truly believes in.Music, good solid rock music, in its purest form without the complications of vocals. There is a wonderful balancing of harmonies in their songs and a technical expertise wielded with casual grace. The sole exception to the no singers rule is ‘Two Times’ which features the vocal talents of John Garcia. The band have stripped everything back to their core beliefs in music to the point of even ditching song titles. Don’t think for one second however that this album is dull or lacklustre,it isn’t, the music ripples and pulses with a life of its own. Heavy and hard-hitting,delicate and sublime, this a great example of what good rock music should sound like. 8/10
