I AM KODE
NEW SINGLE – ‘PAINT THE SKY’
RELEASED – DOWNTOWN 82 RECORDS – 15TH JULY 2016
South West London based singer, multi-instrumentalist and producer, I AM KODE is set to release a new single on Downtown 82 Records on the 15th of July 2016.
‘Paint The Sky’, the follow up to the Gary Crowley favourite and Q Magazine ‘Track Of The Week’ debut release ‘Flood’, was self produced and recorded over the last few months in his own studio and will be available digitally via all the main outlets.
Bittersweet pop that’s both cutting and metaphorical, the new track veers slightly from the catchy electro feel of his first release, but the diversity shown here is special and further whets the appetite for the eagerly awaited I Am Kode debut album which is due later this year.
‘Paint The Sky’ is accompanied by a video directed by film producer Ka Ki Wong who has made her name in recent years by participating in controversial activist protests in Hong Kong as a documentary video/photographer. In a slight departure from her usual assignments, Ka Ki somehow managed to bring together the locals of Hampton Wick in the making of this video and the results are here to be seen:
The multi-talented, I AM KODE has been developing his electronic tinged sound over the last couple of years in his South West London home studio. His musical influences range from the likes of Chvrches to Sia and Madeon, but is also inspired by the way that producers such as Mark Ronson and Moby approach their craft. Taking the DIY approach, he prefers to do everything from recording lead and backing vocals, string and orchestral arrangements, synths, pianos, programming in drums and bass lines; completely on his own.
The results are both refreshing and stunning. Down-tempo and moody melodies mix with infectious yet off kilter hooks that display a new artist with a truly great pop sensibility that will make I AM KODE one to watch throughout 2016 and beyond.
