“BY YOUR SIDE” – 4th September 2015
RELEASE IN AID OF TEENAGE CANCER TRUST
Kosoti, a fresh folk/pop band from the North East of England are set to release their brand new single “By Your Side” in aid of Teenage Cancer Trust.
The song which was originally released in 2013 is dedicated to the friends, family and professionals that supported Allan (lead singer) during his treatment of a double brain haemorrhage. From the moment of recovery he knew that all he wanted was to make the most of his life making music and Kosoti was born.
“The work that Teenage Cancer trust do is very close to our hearts as a band and they have strong ties in Newcastle Upon Tyne, throughout the UK and the music industry” says Allan. “It was an obvious choice of song for the campaign”.
Brit Award nominee John Newman will also be backing the campaign. John, who featured on Rudimentals number one track ‘Feel the Love’ and their follow up single ‘Not Giving In’ has also had number one hits in his own right with his debut single ‘Love Me Again’ and his debut album ‘Tribute’.
John says “You never think something like this will happen to you, and when it does hit home, it hits harder than you could ever imagine. No matter how strong you are, you need all the support you can get – trust me, I know. All the profits go to helping those who need it most in these dark and traumatic times, please support this cause in making this purchase, it is more than worth it – not least because it is a great song too!”
Band of the moment Everything Everything are also fully supporting the single release. Jonathan Higgs from the band says “Please support this cause, never has a song come from a more genuine place! An amazing story of hope and recovery, and a great tune. All profits go to the Teenage Cancer Trust, do your bit and help out!”
With seven young people being diagnosed with cancer every day in the UK Teenage Cancer Trust provide expert treatment and support within special NHS units around the country.
“Music is at the heart of Teenage Cancer Trust and it is great that young, up and coming artists are looking to champion our cause. This song about hope and support resonates with our work on many levels, it brings home the reality that it is those by our sides that help give us strength to fight. Help Kosoti to help us continue supporting young people so that they are not alone when faced with cancer.” – Angie Jenkison, Music Relations Manager at Teenage Cancer Trust.
“What we would love to happen is for the campaign to generate a ‘pay it forward’ style viral affect” continues Allan, “using the hashtag #supportbyyourside our aim is to get as many people involved in a viral post share on Facebook and Twitter as we can. This involves asking friends, relatives, companies, musicians/bands and celebrities to share the link to the track and encourage the viral element by dedicating their purchase of the track to people that have supported them during tough times in their life.
The track will be available through all major online retailers including iTunes and Google Play but we also have it available from a short link (j.mp/BYS2015) where people can literally pay what they want. This is where we feel we will make the most difference for the appeal and generate greater funds for Teenage Cancer Trust depending on the public’s generosity of course. Obviously we would love the single to chart and further increase the income for Teenage Cancer Trust but that is purely a dream scenario. Thank you to everyone that has helped us to put this together over the past six months, let’s do this!”
Kosoti start their campaign on Saturday 1st August 2015 where people will be able to pre-order the track. ‘By Your Side’ will then be released on Friday 4th September 2015 which is when all pre-orders will be honoured. Get involved and do your bit, order the track from j.mp/BYS2015 and share the track on Facebook and Twitter. Dedicate it to someone that was there for you, or for one of your family, when you needed them by tagging them in the post. Don’t forget to ask them to do the same!
