ANNOUNCE NEW SINGLE AND

SINGLES CLUB AT LONDON BORDERLINE ON 14TH 15TH OCTOBER

90s cult band My Life Story are set to perform two shows at London’s Borderline on 14th & 15th October to coincide with the official release of their new single ‘24 Hour Deflowerer’. The new cut, already available on all digital outlets, is classic MLS wordplay on a par with the band’s past hits ‘Strumpet’ and ‘12 Reasons Why I Love Her’. Recently named by NME as “one of the greatest lost bands of the 90s”, the British pop group is ready for a full come back.

If you buy tickets for either show you will automatically receive a copy of one of the 1000 limited, hand numbered vinyl singles, which will be given out in number order on the door.  MLS will perform a varied set each night. Jake Shillingford, MLS songwriter and front man, said “I wanted to put the single out in conjunction with last years tour, however TV work commitments took hold. The London residency gives us an opportunity to physically hand over the new single to our loyal, wonderful fans and create an interactive event – stripped back, upfront and personal. I’m looking forward to discovering who gets in the door first to bag 0001 of the single!”

My Life Story enjoyed a string of chart hits in the 90s and were key players in the Britpop movement. They were a huge favourite on the live circuit with their flamboyant shows and loyal following. The band scored 6 Top 40 hits, including ’12 Reasons Why I Love Her‘, ‘Strumpet’ and ‘Sparkle‘, described by Melody Maker at the time as: “Satisfying escapism. Taking life’s mundanities and making them magical.” While Smash Hits defined it as “he best pop single of last year not to feature the Spice Girls.”

The band returned in 2006, after a six-year hiatus, with a ‘best of’ album entitled ‘Sex & Violins’. This was followed by ‘Megaphone Theology (B-sides & Rarities)’. They have since performed sell out shows at The Astoria, O2 Shepherds Bush Empire and Koko. Last year Jake and MLS guitarist Nick Evans wrote music for the Showtime series ‘Homeland’ under the guise of Chøppersaurus.
