LINCOLN DEBUTS FIRST SINGLE; ANNOUNCES
SIGNING TO I SURRENDER RECORDS
“a smart and sardonic songwriter who lays sharp lyricism over a punchy
barrage of emo-backed alternative rock.” – Consequence of Sound
Today, via a premiere with Consequence of Sound, we are introduced to a new voice in angst-riddled, youthful rebellion; Lincoln. On “Smokey Eyes”, the first track off of his upcoming EP A Constant State of Ohio, Lincoln exhibits the same sort of sardonic, intelligent lyrical self-reflection that make artists like Jeff Magnum or Max Bemis so special. Sonically, “Smokey Eyes” is chockful of addictive melodies, churning guitars and driving percussion. You can listen to “Smokey Eyes” now on Soundcloud, and it will be available on most download services along with the vinyl preorder on December 9th. A Constant State of Ohio is due out January 27th on I Surrender Records.
Lincoln, who hails from Cincinnati, Ohio, has a sound that is equal parts pretentious and angsty. He first caught the ear of his now label, I Surrender Records, when Sam Means, previously of The Format, tweeted a link to a YouTube cover Lincoln had done of one their songs. On his debut EP A Constant State of Ohio, which was produced by Brett Romnes (I Am The Avalanche), we get a chance to peer into the pure honesty and quirky juxtaposition of self-awareness and outward teenage rebellion that comes across as something you’ve never heard before.
