“Germanic,Popol Vuh-ish fantasy soundtracks…” Mojo ****
“A brooding and layered affair that recalls a more exotic take on Massive Attack’s darker moments…” Shindig
Filmmusik, out 2nd June on Pelagic Records, is the first album Emil Amos (Om, Grails, Holy Sons, and Lilacs & Champagne) has released under his own name – bringing all his signature styles under one record. “The idea of releasing a Filmmusik LP was stolen from the keyboardist of Can, Irwin Schmidt, who had a virtually unknown series of records under the same name. It’s a pretentious concept for sure, until you eventually have a body of music lying around that actually stands up strong in that mold.”
Tiny Mix Tapes who describe the album as “a dark record, full of secret passageways, dead-ends, and a heavy feeling of doom” are streaming the album in full ahead of release.

The vastly different sounds of Amos’s four bands are blended into one kaleidoscopic union that plays like a soundtrack to a lonely 70s European suspense film.
