London slow-pop artist DAUNT unveils ‘Drive’ the first cut from his debut EP ‘Unbearable Light’
DAUNT ~ Drive
“The influences of several genres subtly tint aspects of “Drive”, shining through in the swung hip-hop beats and the solid yet funky bassline keeping the airy, spacious cut’s feet firmly on the ground.” The Line of Best Fit
‘Drive’ is the first single from Will Daunt’s forthcoming debut EP Unbearable Light – poised for an April 28th release via London label Beatnik Creative.
Based in London, DAUNT first emerged with his seductive brand of slow-pop when he uploaded ‘This Body Rushes’ to SoundCloud, racking up 400k plays in a matter of days. ‘Drive’ is a striking first taste of what is to come from his new exceptional body of work.
A minimalistic beat and bass line form the romantic foundations for sympathetically delivered vocal hooks with warm, subtle instrumentation that dip in and out of the space where airy gaps are granted room to breathe.
Influenced by swung hip-hop beats, classic soul rhythms and 70s funk/disco bass lines, as well as the genre- experimentation of artists like Beck or Glass Animals, DAUNT crafts unique pop that feels mature and refined.
