NEW SINGLE – ‘STEREOTYPE’ – RELEASED ON FUTURE NOISE MUSIC – 24TH SEPT. 2012
Bristol punk pioneer, Mark Stewart is set to play a London headline show at Village Underground with very special guests, electronic three – piece, Factory Floor on Thursday the 27th of September 2012.
The date, which will coincide with the release of a new single, ‘Stereotype’, will see Stewart joined on stage with the tightest punk psyche-funk rhythm section in the shape of Arkell & Hargreaves (True Tiger / Submotion Orchestra), a melange of guitar courtesy of Dan Catsis (The Pop Group, Glaxo Babies) and fellow On-U man MC Culture.
‘Stereotype’, a melancholic modern pop classic, features original Clash and PIL guitarist Keith Levene, Factory Floor and The Raincoats’ Gina Birch and is the second track to be lifted from the recent ‘The Politics of Envy’ album which was released in March. The single will come with a great line up of exclusive mixes from the likes of Perc (Techno mix), Fred Ventura (Italo Connection mix), Chrissy Murderbot the Chicago Footwork maestro and Daniel B. of Front 242.
Critically acclaimed and cementing the elements which have infused Mark Stewart’s work since his first band, The Pop Group erupted, the album features an amazing line up of collaborators, including cult film-maker Kenneth Anger, punk innovator Richard Hell, Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry, Slits bassist Tessa Pollitt, Jesus And Mary Chain bassist Douglas Hart, Daddy G of Massive Attack, Primal Scream and the aforementioned Factory Floor, Gina Birch and Keith Levene.
A follow up dub album is set to be released in the Autumn, more details will be announced in the very near future.
