Brooklyn duo Matt and Kim have announced a new European headline tour for April 2016, which includes a show at London’s Scala on April 8th. To coincide, the band release a UK only single ‘Stirred Up (UK Version)’ on that date as well through Virgin/EMI.
The tour follows on from a big 2015 for Matt and Kim, playing their largest and fastest-selling US tour yet, their successful UK headline show at London’s Heaven in May 2015 and a UK arena tour with Fall Out Boy during October.
The upcoming European live dates are the first for Matt & Kim in 2016 and precede their mainstage appearance at Coachella, as well as other festival dates this summer including New York’s Governor’s Ball, Spain’s SOS 4.8 Festival, Wayhome Music & Art Festival in Canada and Detroit’s Mo Pop Festival. The band are pleased to announce that French act, STAL (http://grand-blanc.net/share/stal/) have agreed to support on all dates.
Matt and Kim also announce a special UK only version of their insanely exuberant ‘Stirred Up (UK Version)’ which will be released on April 8th, 2016. ‘Stirred Up’, co-produced by longtime collaborator Lars Stalfors (The Mars Volta, Cold War Kids, Alice Glass, HEALTH) has just received an exclusive play from John Kennedy, who’s also confirmed the band will be in session week of April 4.
The single follows “Get It’ and ‘Hey Now’, both which received previous wide radio support across the board from John and Chris Moyles (Radio X), Huw Stephens (BBC Radio 1), Gary Crowley (BBC Radio London), Steve Lamacq (BBC 6Music) and Dermot O’ Leary (BBC Radio 2).
The two met while attending Pratt Institute and quickly became known for their thunder-punching, melodic mix of indie and dance music. Right off, Spin said “there truly is no sound these two won’t use to support their almost religious commitment to spreading huge grins,” while Rolling Stone describes “Matt & Kim’s reputation as a live act precedes them – and justifiably so. Simply put, they are a two-person dynamo frantic, tightly wound and full of good cheer. For the sheer adrenaline-per-second, no other band comes close.”
All the while they toured the globe, becoming the go-to band for raw exuberance, bombastic beats, sing-along refrains and dance-ready anthems on larger and larger scales. They’ve performed at many, many major music festivals including Lollapalooza, Bonnaroo, Coachella, Firefly, Summerfest, Big Day Out, Fuji, V, Pukkelpop and Ultra.
