Following the success of her debut EP Chest Of Hearts, Puerto-Rican singer-songwriter Angelica Allen returns to bring to life melodies both foreboding and victorious, synths swelling, sparkling and exploding with the announcement of two new EPs. Allen has seen her project My Midnight Heart tint the skies in brilliant shades of grey as the inherently catchy yet undeniably distinctive brand of profound pop transforms listeners to voyeurs. My Midnight Heart will bring thirsty fans two EPs in February on MNRCH- Drown, out 2/3, and Break, out 2/17.
My Midnight Heart’s first new offering and EP title track “Drown” draws the ear in with impossibly buoyant vocals anchored by oceanic synth tones. Steeped in dark waters, the sultry spirit of the track emerges draped in the artist’s signature black lace before building to a tremendous crescendo with omnipotent percussion and Angelica’s gorgeous belting.“Drown” was unveiled with SPIN and is available to stream below.
Angelica Allen cuts the unexpected cadences of My Midnight Heart’s futuristic pop sensibilities with surrealism that speaks to the subconscious. With the power of her vocals and lyrics, and her producer’s instinct, Allen aims to bring to life powerful sonic atmospheres. Having shared stages with Solange, Blood Orange and Nick Waterhouse, My Midnight Heart recently opened for a leg of Tegan and Sara’s national tour this past summer.
