Academy Award Winner and Yorkshire born, Sir Ben Kingsley, is Patron of Scarborough Fair and is offering his support to the returning festival;
“I’m very proud to be a part of the Scarborough Fair festival. It’s setting up to open the doors to the Yorkshire hills and coastline, the area in which I was born and have fond memories of. Set up to offer cultural events across music and the arts it’s an admirable project that I feel invigorated to be a part and many more!
The festival is the brainchild of Levack, who was previously on the management team of Glastonbury Festival, and has and overseen Port Eliot festival and a number of pop-up galleries in London and across the UK.
“In 1998 I put on a mini-festival on a friend’s family farm for my 18th birthday. Since then I’ve wanted to bring a boutique festival to Yorkshire which marries art, through its very own art gallery, and great music like nowhere else. Eighteen years later we’re going to do just that and put Scarborough on the festival map,” said Levack.
A key location on the new Tour de Yorkshire cycle race, Scarborough has always been a popular seaside destination and in 2016 will fill a gap on the festival map by welcoming up to 8,000 art and music fans to its various stages. A range of acts, tents and curators will be announced and revealed in the coming weeks.
Arts entertainment will be integrated throughout the festival, including a sculpture trail, installations and a unique pop up art space. Cayton Bay will also offer surfing experiences for festival goers. Sign up to receive the latest festival info and buy early bird tickets from http://scarboroughfairfestival.com/
