HEYROCCO RELEASE VIDEO TO GO WITH NEW BRENDAN BENSON PRODUCED EP ‘WAITING ON COOL’
Watch ‘Build It Up’
“without doubt one of the best bands I have ever worked with” Brendan Benson
“angst-ridden grunge of Nirvana, while flecks of Pavement ensure a distinctly nostalgic flavour to these young guitar heroes” NME
“You know those perfect songs that soundtrack your summer of late nights, romance and hedonism? Well, HEYROCCO have just dropped one” GIGWISE
“Cue the light wash denim jeans and tattoo chokers because Heyrocco’s new single launches us right into 90’s teenage movie nostalgia. Like these Southern sweethearts, we admittedly might not have been the coolest kids in high school—but at least we can pretend like we were while listening to some 90’s inspired rock and roll” NYLON
“‘… darkly nostalgic vibe – worthy of, say, Radiohead’s much neglected ‘Pablo Honey’ full length” CLASH MAGAZINE
Following the release of their critically acclaimed debut album Teenage Movie Soundtrack in June 2015, HEYROCCO have played over 100 live shows throughout Europe, the US & Canada. In between touring, the band teamed up in early 2016 with hugely influential artist and producer Brendan Benson. The result of their sessions at Benson’s Readymade Studios in Nashville are the tracks ‘Build it Up”,‘Yeah’ and ‘Always Something New’ with three additional tracks ‘Slice of Life’, ‘Venice Beach’ and ‘Perfect World’ produced whilst on the road in the US by Ryan Zimmerman and Alex Admiral Collier. The first single ‘Build It Up’ is available along with the EP now.
Nate Merli (vocals and guitar), Christopher Cool (bass and yes, that’s his real name), and Taco Cooper (drums) first plugged in their parent’s garage five years ago. This South Carolina-bred trio may be known for their dark, nostalgic pop tunes, but their compelling image and onstage persona is in-your-face rock and roll.
