DEBUT SINGLE – ‘SPRINKLE WITH RUST’ – 9TH DECEMBER 2016
LIVE DATE – PICTURE HOUSE SOCIAL, SHEFFIELD – 8TH DECEMBER 2106
Sheffield three-piece, RALE are set to release their debut single on the 9th of December 2016.
‘Sprinkle With Rust’ was recorded in Sheffield with Dean Honer (I Monster, All Seeing Eye, The E.R.C., Moonlandingz) and has already proven to be a BBC Introducing favourite and has been featured on Tom Robinson’s 6 Music Introducing Mixtape. Accompanying the single is a stunning video featuring an 80s-infused montage of faces directed by Stink Studio’s Jon Lawton
RALE were formed just over two years ago when Tom O’Hara (vocals) and Dino Sofos (guitar) met Sena Verdi (synths / guitar). Tom and Dino had played in a Post-Punk band and were influenced by the likes Comsat Angels, The Chameleons, Teardrop Explodes and Echo & The Bunnymen while Sena was an established electronic music producer, writer and vocalist who had worked with acts like BT, Paul Oakenfold and Aqualung.
Together they set about developing a new sound between them, straddling influences from far and wide and encompassing hints of The Smashing Pumpkins, Massive Attack and New Order, to Depeche Mode, The Human League and The The. Live shows soon followed and they entered and won a Spotify competition, which saw them land support slots with The Cribs and Mystery Jets, whilst picking up favourable reviews in NME and Clash magazine along the way.
Retreating to a friend’s studio in an old warehouse in Attercliffe in their hometown of Sheffield with electro-pop legend Dean Honer and an arsenal of guitars and old synths, they set about crafting a new batch of songs. Local BBC Introducing presenter Christian Carlisle was the first to pick up on the band and declared live on air: “They’ve come out with some incredible music. I absolutely love them. Big Music”
Currently in the studio putting the finishing touches to an EP and album with Richy Westley from Moonlandingz (ex Reverend And The Makers) on drums, RALE will record a BBC Introducing session for BBC Sheffield and then support Living Body at Picture House Social in the city on the 8th of December.
