“Like all good music, theirs, at its best, makes you see the world differently and expands your horizons” ~ The Guardian
“Real Lies could be one of 2015’s most important young bands” – Time Out
“They’re the closest thing we’ve got to a modern day New Order: they mine the UK’s long and rich relationship to dance music, convey a sense of belonging in being on the outside of cozy suburbia, and find beauty in the greyest places” – FADER
“Real Lies sound like the sort of thing that no one else is making but everyone should be hearing” – Vice / Noisey
“The sound of lads who listen to pirate radio making soulful London pop music” ~ The Quietus
“There’s a more important, underlying commonality Real Lies get at—they are unabashed romantics, respectful of the potential listener’s fathomless longing, incapacitating nostalgia and the belief that these feelings and the fleeting, intense relationships responsible for them are worthy of being presented on a grand scale.” – Pitchfork
Over the past two years, Real Lies have developed into one of our most talked-about new bands. Navigating intuitively through their early single releases – a sublimely evocative video here, a word-of-mouth warehouse party there, a midweek London club night (‘Eternal’) that became the stuff of legend and, of course, a collection of defining, youthful pop songs that could simultaneously conjure up feelings of both euphoria and melancholy, Real Lies embody exactly what it is to be young, locked in and yet somewhat adrift in Britain today.
Through these early singles – ‘World Peace’, ‘Dab Housing’, ’North Circular’ and ‘Seven Sisters’ – this north London trio comprising Tom Watson, Kev Kharas and Pat King have evolved to become one of the UK’s most exciting prospects. Now, following a premiere of album opener ‘Blackmarket Blues’ on James Blake’s most recent Radio 1 Residency show, Real Lies are delighted to announce full details of their debut full-length statement. Produced by Dan Foat and Nathan Boddy (aka Local Hero), the eleven track album ‘Real Life’ will be released on 16th October 2015 on Marathon Artists.
The full track list is as follows:
1. Blackmarket Blues
2. Dab Housing
3. World Peace
5. One Club Town
6. North Circular
7. Lovers’ Lane
8. Seven Sisters
9. Naked Ambition
Featuring artwork designed by LAW, ‘Real Life’ will be available on CD, LP (gatefold sleeve with accompanying download code) and download through all good retailers and via the following links:
