Surrey Pop-Rock Quartet Unveil New Video Single From Debut EP
6th June 2017 – Pop Rock newcomers Seasonal are pleased to unveil the video for their latest single ‘Headphones’ here. Hailing from Guildford, the quartet recently released their debut EP ‘Bloom,’ from which the single is taken. Vocalist/bassist Matt Truseler says of ‘Headphones’: “It is an anthemic pop rock track with lyrics reminiscing of our days growing up in our area. It’s about how hearing a certain song can take you straight back and bring forward memories of the past. We shot the video in and around Guildford, visiting all our old local haunts, where we used to hang out in our teenage years, listening to music with friends. Everyone has that place where they used to hang out and share the new band they’ve heard with their friends. This is our story.”

With a line-up completed by guitarists Max O’Neill and Alex Coombes and drummer Alex Tickner, Seasonal formed as a trio in 2016, later recruiting Coombes on the strength of their demos. With the line-up complete they pushed on with writing more material, but agreed that “something was not quite selling us”. Continuing to experiment, a simple change of tuning and the writing of debut track ‘Sevens’ made for a winning combo and from this process their moniker was plucked: “The name of the band really just came from the change in the attitude and way we approached the project, like a change in the seasons,” summaries Truseler.
Once happy with their repertoire, 9 months had passed and the band headed into the studio with the intention of recording just one track with Oz Craggs at Hidden Track in Folkestone. However, upon hearing the first mix, they were inspired to dive in, going on to lay down all of the tracks that became ‘Bloom’. The result is an emotionally weathered offering of heartfelt pop rock, reminiscent of Jimmy Eat World, Deaf Havana and Taking Back Sunday. Noting influences from both the ‘old’ and the ‘new’, they feel the acts they adore have shaped their sound, but that they offer something different. With the release now available for you to hear in full, they conclude: “Lyrically we take a very honest approach. Our debut doesn’t have a set message throughout, instead each track has its own vibe and story, all related to our own personal experiences growing up. We feel the title ‘Bloom’ encapsulates the collection of stories and impression of something fresh and new.”
