The new single from Shiny Wet Machine is said to delve deeper into the 90’s Riot Grrrl / indie rock influences of the band. For one, the verses are cantered around a shoegaze-y guitar lead and a lagging drum beat and bassline that opens up into a huge pop hook with a wall of guitars and percussion. Then there is the front foot and embodied voice of Sizzy Rocket conclides that the duo may have just seized the day.
A little background on the band, it’s a collaboration between Sizzy Rocket and Alex Fitts (best known as The Kickdrums). Their first single ‘Stun Gun’ premiered with Impose Magazine back in November and has since found coverage with Galore Magazine, Alt Press and a score of other blogs. It has also received a decent amount of playlisting on Spotify and Play Too Much music did a short bio/introduction video to the band ahead of their first show in Brooklyn last November.
For “Stun Gun”, the band released 100 limited-edition cassettes, which sold out in less than three days. For “Hospitals”, they have included a special limited edition “First Aid Kit” to accompany the release of the cassette for the track.
