Slow Caves To Release Their Old Flame Records Debut, The Desert Minded EP on March 10, 2017
Released Video for Single “Desert Minded”
First West Coast Tour Starting January
Fort Collins, CO based band Slow Caves have signed to Old Flame Records (Heyrocco, Keeps, Ski Lodge, Gothic Tropic) and will release The Desert Minded EP on March 10, 2017.
Last week, the band was featured in The Denver Post’s – The Know. Check out their music video for the first single, “Desert Mindehttps://youtu.be/900fj-91aL0d”.
“This song expresses longing for the romantic ideals of being by the ocean. We’ve grown up listening to bands from California and have obsessed about the sounds and sights that come from out there. We wish we could go to the beach, surf, look like Stacy Peralta but we can’t. We live in Colorado and definitely enjoy it here but you always want what you can’t have. The chorus, ‘Please believe me, I’m here for you, everything you’ve made up in my head,’ is like having the idea of California as a voice inside your head telling you it’s ok, go out west where you can live in this fantasy version of California, that represents music like the Beach Boys and so on.'” – Jakob Mueller, guitarist/vocalist
Listening to Slow Caves, one is reminded that being sonically interesting doesn’t mean that a band must sacrifice having old fashioned hooks or pop sensibilities. Danish born brothers, Jakob and Oliver Mueller, provide the vocal and guitar backdrop for Slow Caves, a band (rounded out by childhood friends David Dugan – guitar/bass, and Jackson Lamperes – drums) who offer a relaxed and surf-y update on 80’s synth, 90’s jangle, and early aught’s indie rock.
Formed in Ft. Collins, CO in 2014, Slow Caves quickly gained a reputation as a must-see local attraction. Soon the band was making an impression in Denver’s vibrant music scene, earning them slots at tastemaker clubs such as The Hi Dive and Lost Lake Lounge. The band has showcased their music at SXSW in Austin, CMJ in New York and will be playing Boise’s lauded, Treefort Festival in 2017.
In January 2017 the band will embark on its first West Coast Tour. Dates below:
